Meet Andrea Smith | Cypress Moms Network

I’m so excited to introduce you to Andrea Smith! She is one of the first Houston area Moms that I had a chance to interact with leading up to our move from Connecticut to Houston. Andrea is the realtor who helped my family and I find our home here in Northwest Houston! We traveled from Connecticut to Houston a few times prior to our big move and we were so incredibly fortunate that we had Andrea to help with the immense search for our new home here in Texas. Each time we lined up a visit to Houston, Andrea diligently set up appointments for us to see homes in a few areas of Houston including Cypress, Copperfield, and Katy – there were at least 20 homes to view each time before we found ours! She made the process so smooth – she was patient, kind, and really took the time to understand us and in turn was able to find a home that fit us. She treated us like we were her only clients, though I know she is  is in high demand! When we had to close on our home, Andrea helped us do it remotely – we sat in a Starbucks in Connecticut with a notary and Andrea helped facilitate all of the Texas related items for the close in Houston. She literally went the extra mile EVERY single step of the way. To say that she made this doable  is a complete understatement! Not only did she make the buying process so smooth, we also feel like we gained a friend. She is one amazing, heartfelt Mama who is doing this for ALL the right reasons! If you meet her you will know exactly what I mean – we could not be happier to have found her!

Where are you from originally and how long have you lived in town?

I was born and raised in Houston. In fact, my parents still live in the same home in the Heights that they have lived in since before I was born. I currently live in Katy in a home that has been my favorite ongoing project for the last 14 years.

How many children do you have and what are their ages?

My husband, Barry, and I have two children. Gwen is 17 and a senior in high school. She will be headed to Texas Tech in the fall. Jacob, my theater lover, is 13 and in the 8th grade.

One thing people would be surprised to know about you…

I think most people would be surprised to know that I am a natural introvert. Once you get me warmed up, I love to talk, but my tendency around new groups of people is to be an observer.

Anyone special you’d like to thank for helping you through parenthood?

Oh my goodness…so many people! My kids’ doctors for helping curb my natural tendency to be a worrier, my family for always being around to lend a hand, and my friends for helping me keep my perspective.

Favorite things to do with your kids around town (Cypress/Copperfield)?

We love the burgers at The Shack. The combination of a kid-friendly atmosphere and high-quality food is the best! My kids love the ice cream stand, and my nephews are huge fans of the playground, complete with a repurposed school bus play structure. What I love about Cypress is that it is conveniently located so you can enjoy all of the museums, theaters, and the Houston zoo with just a quick trip in the car.

Favorite local things to do in Cypress?

If you haven’t been to Sew Houston, you need to go! Yolanda Stiger, the owner ,is a former teacher and an amazing “sewista.” She has classes for children and adults of all abilities, and I am always impressed with the creations coming out of her classes. The storefront is located in the Copperfield area, and is such a cute venue for lessons or private parties.

Are you involved in a business venture, a local organization, a creative endeavor, or in the corporate world? Please share!I am!

After a 17-year career in education, I made the transition to real estate with Keller Williams Premier Realty a few years ago. I LOVE that this career allows me to use my teaching skills to guide families through the home sale/purchase process. The transition was a natural one for me, and the business has treated me well. I am always looking for new families to meet and support with their real estate goals.

How has this community been instrumental in getting you to where you are now?

If it weren’t for the amazing people, schools, and resources around us, I wouldn’t have a business. The fact that I am able to work and live in such a vital and growing area is an absolute blessing. Connecting homebuyers with communities that are a good fit for their financial and personal goals is so rewarding!
