Saturday Business Feature: Kidtastic | Cypress Moms Network

Saturday Business Interview, Featuring Kidtastic

Today we are featuring our favorite indoor playground, Kidtastic Park! This business is locally owned and operated by two incredible families. If you haven’t been to this place, you have to check it out soon. If you have, then you already know why Moms and kids love this indoor playground! Even before the pandemic, I was completely impressed with how CLEAN it is. Given that they are families with young kids, they have thought of everything! There are two sections for age specific play and all of my 3 kids have a blast when they are there.  Parents also have a good area to watch. Given the uncertainty during the pandemic – the staff at Kidtastic has taken the cleaning up a notch and have made it easy to schedule time while also being very transparent about how many people will be there for play. I absolutely adore this business and the owners behind it! Visit them when you can Mamas, your kids will thank you and you will leave feeling happy you decided to go!

Meet the Kidstastic Owners:

Kidtastic Park is made up of two families Ricky and Christina Nguyen & Khoa and Jasmine Do. Currently, we co-own Kidtastic Park together while Ricky oversees the daily operations of the playground.

Where are you from originally and how long have you lived in the area?

Ricky as well as the Dos were born and raised in Houston. Christina is originally from Oklahoma and moved here what feels like a lifetime ago. Currently, we all live in Cypress and absolutely love it.

How many children do you have and what are their ages?

Ricky and Christina have two kids: Scarlet (5) and Paxton (almost 2).

Khoa and Jasmine also have two kids: Claire (8) and Andrew (almost 6).

Tell us about your business?

As two families in Cypress, we believe in discovering and experiencing fun for our children, and even for us, as parents.

At Kidtastic Park, children grow, learn, and play as they spend time with friends, burn off energy, and celebrate special events like birthdays and more. We strive to ensure our indoor playground is a safe, clean and fun-filled environment.

From a special toddler area for children learning to walk and/or needing a smaller area to play in to twisty tunnels and super slides for the bigger kids, Kidtastic Park is about learning while playing. With a zip line, merry-go-round, slides, obstacle courses, educational elements, and so much more, we want to encourage more family time.

When did the idea of creating your business start? How long have you been in business?

From day one, it’s always been about our kids and making them happy. We wanted a safe, clean and fun playground for our families and your families. And we’re grateful to have such a supportive community who helped us recently celebrate our second birthday/anniversary Pre-COVID (side note: this feels like a lifetime ago).

What is one thing you can point to that helped make your business successful?

I can think of two things.

Undoubtedly, our community — We’ve always been so extremely proud to be a part of this community and consider ourselves truly lucky. And this challenging time has made us realize even more how blessed we are to call this community ours. Our community consistently supports us with the kindest messages, love and so much more. We are incredibly grateful for our community.

Also, we want to thank our team. Call me biased, but our team is fantastic. They work so hard to ensure the safety of our kids and your kids. They’re caring, helpful and understanding. Our team makes us who we are.

What was your biggest challenge as a business and how did you overcome it?

Unsurprisingly, our biggest challenge is the pandemic. We were also broken into mid-summer which set us back even more financially and emotionally. Like most small local businesses, we have been trying to find our way and take things day by day.

Pandemic or not, though, we take the health and safety of our community seriously. From improved cleaning and sanitizing procedures to booking limited play sessions with reduced capacity, we’re prepared to continue our promise in keeping our playground safe, clean and fun-filled.

What do you enjoy most about being an entrepreneur? What is your favorite part about what you do?

As entrepreneurs, we have loved meeting so many families throughout the Cypress community. Thanks to this adventure, we’ve had the opportunity to create so many new meaningful friendships.

And personally, meeting new parent friends, bloggers and other community members has been the icing on the cake. I have met so many truly supportive people managing events, communications and social channels. I know I said this earlier, but seriously, we are so lucky to have an awesome community.

What does the future look like for you and your business?

We are small business owners, but we consider ourselves parents first. Much like our community, we are right here braving this uncertainty. And we are patiently waiting for the rainbow following this awful storm. Simply put, we are hoping for better days when we all feel and know it’s truly safe to play together again.

Any advice for juggling all the things in daily life?

Honestly, these days surviving alone feels like it’s enough. With a kindergartener and toddler, a full-time job, a part-time gig managing the marketing at Kidtastic Park, and other things I’ve forgotten because that’s seemingly been my thing lately, I am not always sure how I am “juggling,” but I can say balls have fallen. Repeatedly. And I’ve been able to pick them back up on most days and everything has been imperfectly fine, which I’ve learned is okay.

So, to everyone who is reading this, don’t forget to give yourself grace. All in all, this year has been especially challenging but my husband and I most definitely value the extra time we had with our kids this year.

Anyone special you’d like to thank for helping you through?

To our supportive team, family, friends, and our community, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. You’ve helped us make Kidtastic Park what it is today.

We are truly grateful for everyone’s support by following along as we’re two families chasing a big dream.

How has this community been instrumental in getting you to where you are now?

We consider our playground just as much as our community’s as it is ours. Our community has been instrumental in so many ways including simply showing up, attending events, sending us the sweetest messages, sharing our posts, telling their friends and neighbors about us and much more. As parents and small business owners, we are always in awe of our supportive and caring community. Each and every person who has helped us reminds us that it really does take a village.
