Meet a Mom: Stacy Simmons | Cypress Moms Network

Happy 1st Friday of October!!! I swear it feels like we blinked an eye and it went from March to October. Today’s Meet a Mom, Stacy Simmons, is an incredible local Mama to two adorable little boys. She shared tons of tricks to keep our kiddos entertained during the thick of the pandemic that my kids loved.  This Mama has an abundance of great ideas that she kindly shares with all of us throughout the whole year. If you meet this Mama, you will quickly adore her. Her page is  full of light – filled with easy and fun things to do with the little ones! This October, she will be sharing one idea each day for #fallfun31. Be sure to check out her page for the  31 Fall+Spooky ideas to do with your little ones!

Where are you from originally and how long have you lived in town?

I am originally from California. I was born and raised in Orange County and moved to San Diego to attend San Diego State University. My family and I moved to Texas two and a half years ago and are excited to raise our kids here in Cypress!

How many children do you have and what are their ages?

I have two boys Heath (4 years old) and Baby Jack (2 years old). We will call him “baby Jack” until he’s 30, or when he hates it-whatever comes first. I would love a third, but I’ll have to convince my hubby…but I think he secretly wants a girl!

One thing people would be surprised to know about you…

I work at Stitch Fix, a monthly clothing subscription company, and I carve out the time when the boys nap and after they go to bed. I’m so grateful to be able to work remotely and be able to be at home with the kids in this season while they are young. My days are long, but I know the years are short! God bless dry shampoo.

Anyone special you’d like to thank for helping you through parenthood?

My best friend Allison Disarro, she’s my PERSON. I have been so incredibly blessed with her friendship and even though we live thousands of miles apart and don’t talk as much I would like to, we never skip a beat when we have the chance. She became a mom first and has always been my bible for all things kids/family. And some big “xoxo” to my hubby, he’s such an amazing dad and I couldn’t do it all without him! He’s so incredibly supportive and just wants to work hard for his family. He always tells me that his job is easy, and that I have the hardest job raising these boys.

Favorite local things to do in the Cypress area (Cypress/Copperfield/Jersey Village/Cyfair)??

I’m constantly discovering a new park or splash pad with my family, still after two and half years of living here!

Our family is a part of the Anchor church in Cypress, and we cannot wait until we can all can worship together again in our new building! It’s the first church that my husband and I have ever belonged to, its such an honor to be able serve others here and it’s been a big blessing in our lives.

Are you involved in a business venture, a local organization, a creative endeavor, or in the corporate world?

When I started sharing on Instagram, it was to stay in touch with all my friends and I would post stories for my husband to see what the boys and I were up to- since he travels for work during the week. He loves watching my stories every night and says it’s always the highlight of his day.

I keep my account pretty light-hearted, but my purpose is to always keep it FUN and hopefully be a helpful resource for easy recipes, kids crafts/activities, beauty hacks from my mom (#bananabeauty), and family life. I just hope I can always be a light in this space and if you like any of those things–let’s be friends! IG @Stacy__Simmons I also organize kids craft shares/activity ideas periodically and you can follow along #kidsplaycollective on IG if you are looking for fun activities for your kids.

How has this community been instrumental in getting you to where you are now?

Moving here from San Diego, we didn’t know anyone besides our family. It was challenging meeting new people, and with kids too! I have met so many moms through Cypress Moms Network. There’s always that instant connection you have when meeting another mom, and it’s so nice finding other local moms who understands your daily life, the struggles, and also cheer along with your wins.

I had recently shared some challenges with my 4-year-old staying in his room and sleeping in his bed though night. I had started a reward chart and was posting his progress on my IG stories. I had so many encouraging and helpful messages from so many local moms. One mom even offered to donate toys to my son’s sleeping cause if he would stay in room! And that is just one example of this amazing community!
